End of the prologue

I hit the ground with a thump, And let out and involuntary cry before the breath is knocked out of me.
I lay there trying to breath, to move, to do any thing. I  manage to draw a ragged breath, and it burns in my throat. I hear footsteps coming towards me slowly and i know the owner of those feet has seen me because the steps have become slow and timid. I roll over and draw a sharp breath, there was a sharp pain from my wing as i moved it. My back is to the footsteps so i turn to see a boy, approximately my own age with a shaggy dark head and brown face. His eyes grow large as he sees my face, and doubtless recognizes me.
I turn to run, but my knee will not support my weight, I look down to see blood covering my leg from the knee down, i most likely hit it on a branch on the way down. I assume I missed feeling this injury because of the adrenaline of falling. I can feel it now, to be honest i feel everything now, all the scratches and bruises. My wing now hanging limp at my side is the worst of all. I turn to face the boy again knowing i cant get away if he decides to chase me, but he has vanished.
I limp and hobble my way back to the small house the village elders had built for me. The house isn't much to look at with a small main room and a little fireplace, there's i oft with room for one to sleep. I collapse by the fireplace and light a fire, I change my Clothes and look at my knee, but it is not as bad as i thought and i wrap it quickly. My main concern is my wing, I do my best to splint and wrap it. I took a long time, but the end result was surprisingly good. I climb up into the loft for some much needed rest.
